La Compagnie de La Vérendrye

La Nouvelle-France au Manitoba
Welcome!

The Compagnie de La Vérendrye illustrates the lives of those voyageurs and soldiers who followed the Canadian explorer Pierre Gaultier de Varennes, Sieur de La Vérendrye, and his four sons, to discover a path to the Western Sea and to China through the rivers and lakes in Western Canada between 1728 and 1749.

La Vérendrye and his sons, accompagnied by fifty voyageurs and a small contingent of experimented colonial marines, trekked and canoed across parts of Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the American mid-west to explore new territories in the name of Louis XV, King of France.

Living History

Solidly anchored in Manitoba's Francophone community in Saint-Boniface (Manitoba) since 1993, the Compagnie de La Vérendrye is a non-profit association regrouping volunteers passionate about French heritage and living history.
